Daniela has always struggled to make sense of her mother and their complicated relationship. When her mother decides to move to a retirement community, Daniela offers to help declutter her home of twenty-six years, seeing this as an opportunity to revisit the past and gather new clues. What she discovers leads to a surprising shift in her perspective.

“[The author’s] attention to detail and focus . . . reminds us of an architectural dig that is psychological and emotional in nature . . . You don’t always find writers capable of expressing complex emotions, but this one makes it seem easy.”

–Tammy Ruggles for Reader Views

Daniela writes narrative poetry and other short pieces about her mother’s progression into dementia. Two of her poems have been published in the Peregrine literary journal.
